* HEART ISCHEMIA

It is the deprivation of oxygen to the heart as a result of decreased perfusion. The identification of ischemia in cardiology is the stress test. Ischemia occurs when creating a temporary blockage of the coronary artery to be followed by an increased blood flow. At the time of ischemia, coronary vessels are dilated to avoid permanent damage to the heart. This natural protective mechanism also mimics drugs used in heart patients. But if coronary vessel obstruction develops, will appear ischemia despite normal vascular dilatation. Here we can distinguish 2 types of ischemia: mild when the body manages to balance itself, and the serious which have secured permanent plaques around the coronary vessel at some point. But in the most serious ischemic situations, the body tries to balance the reduced blood flow with spasms of the coronary arteries, and when it is not succeed any more begins the process of collateral circulation. That blood is pumped from smaller vessels bypassing the narrowed blood vessel which causing ischemia.

Making a homeopathic treatment and fortifying the immune system, avoids plaque installation in the coronary vessels and minimizes the risk of ischemia. For people who have already developed atherosclerotic plaques in coronary vessels, homeopathy create the conditions to avoid the worst happens that is  myocardial infarction, bypassing the path of blood in the narrowed coronary arteries. In patients with narrowed coronary arteries that have chosen to be operated or undergo angioplasty to open up the coronary vessels, with homeopathy they avoid a possible recurrence.

HEART FAILURE

Heart failure occurs when the left ventricle of the heart fails to empty the entire volume of blood in the aorta and thus the blood accumulates in the ventricle. The efficiency of the heart expressed in a fraction of a percentage called the ejection fraction and is an indicator of the severity of heart failure. The standard treatment of heart failure are diuretics (drugs that act on the kidney by increasing urination) vasodilators, digoxin, dopamine and doputamine.

Homeopathic treatment in case of heart failure works in parallel with standard treatment especially if the ejection fraction is low. The purpose of homeopathy is in the first step to stabilize the disease, and secondly to gradually increase the ejection fraction. And while heart failure patient has dyspnea and fatigue easily when climb a ladder, after homeopathic treatment he feels strong and energized. With homeopathy he can and does things that could not be imagined before.

* ARRHYTHMIAS

Arrhythmias are disorders of the heart during the initial formation of the electrical stimulus which will cause the contraction of the heart or the transfer of stimulus from the atria to the ventricles. Arrhythmias are many depending on the anatomical location of the disturbance and the characteristics of electrocardiography findings. The treatment of cardiac arrhythmias achieved in a unique way aim at the inhibition of sodium-potassium calcium pump, in the myocardial cell. In this way, certainly not cured the disease but merely suppressed or at least occur in a latent state. The most important of all is that the patient should take drugs throughout all his life, because if he dares to interrupt them, arrhythmia will return more violent. However in still other cases, arrhythmia can not be suppressed with drugs and the patient gets used to live with this disorder. Many times patient goes to the doctor because believes that he will find the cause of the arrhythmia and therefore cured, but of course this never happens.

For homeopathy, if there is not anatomical lesions of the heart such as myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, the disorder is considered only psychosomatic. Homeopathy does not ever consider a human organ like the heart that is separated from the rest of the psycho-intellectual state. Long before body display arrhythmias in the heart, the person would have concerned of fears, like fear of death, insecurity and anxiety. Most times people are not able by themselves to overcome their negative feelings. They are not able to do it even when they addressed to a psychiatrician for grief because they just take antidepressants. Even then the negative feeling continues to exist and the relief offered by the antidepressant drug is temporary and transient. Our body creates the physical disturbance of arrhythmia for our protection because we do not manage to deal with negative feelings. As it is understood it is better to address homeopath before the birth of arrhythmias, but even when arrhythmia is created, homeopathy will bring the body into a better state of health drifting the arrhythmias in the absolute health. In chronic established arrhythmias, treatment is accomplished in parallel with chemical drugs.

* HYPERTENSION IN CARDIOLOGY

Hypertension is both an increase in systolic and diastolic pressure which can cause long-term coronary, cerebral and renal events. Sedentary lifestyle, obesity, smoking, cholesterolemia and diabetes evoke pressure increase. A chronic established hypertension causes hypertrophy of the left ventricle of the heart and accelerates the development of atherosclerotic plaque in coronary arteries, thus increasing the risk of ischemia, infarction and sudden death. In the kidney, chronic hypertension causes decreased clearance (capacity of the kidney to filter through the blood), creatinine and protein loss in urine. 10 to 20% of these patients will result in renal failure.

It is understood that our body damages are gradually taking years to settle and eventually become irreversible. Therefore the sooner visit a homeopathy doctor, especially in such serious health issues such as hypertension, the more likely you prevent harm to a state that is reversible. Hypertension as homeopathy symptom, comprise the constitutional features. Many times these symptoms such as stubbornness, excessive jealousy, or excessive individual repression are unnoticed not only by the same patient but by a non-homeopathy doctor. Based on these symptoms the prescribed homeopathy remedy will bring blood pressure to normal levels and minimize complications.

* PULMONARY HYPERTENSION

Pulmonary hypertension occurs when the diameter of the pulmonary vessels is reduced or blood flow to the lungs is increased. In some chronic lung diseases such as bronchiectasia, cystic fibrosis, chronic bronchitis and emphysema, pulmonary hypertension is established. In all these diseases vascular network is destroyed thereby increasing the pressure in the pulmonary artery. In simple cases such as smoking and altitude, convulsions are caused in the pulmonary arterioles due to hypoxia that is decreased amount of oxygen. Treatment of pulmonary hypertension is vasodilatation and anticoagulation chemical drugs.
 Homeopathy will initially target to treat the cause of pulmonary hypertension that is the established pulmonary disease, if anatomical damages are not induced. For this reason, once again I recommend the patient to visit the homeopathy doctor at the beginning on the birth of the disease. Otherwise the totality of his level of health drops and irreversible damage creates that greatly hinder homeopathy effort.

VALVE DISORDERS

Heart valve disorders are mitral valve stricture or insufficiency, aortic valve stricture or insufficiency.

MITRAL VALVE STRICTURE

The main cause of mitral valve stricture that is a valve between the left atrium and left ventricle is rheumatic fever. Rheumatic fever is an infection caused by the bacterium streptococcus in the third decade of life. It takes at least 2 years to install the valve while usually patients remain asymptomatic for at least a decade. In the established damage the valve becomes thinner and calcificated. Primary treatment of the disease is anticoagulation, diuretics and digoxin. Patients with rheumatic fever receive penicillin. However, if mitral valve stricture becomes moderate to severe surgery is recommended. But unlike what patients with this problem think, about 60% of patients should operated again within the first five years. The valve is strictured again, the disease worse even though the patient is operated and heart ischemia could be created as well.

Homeopathy has the ability when it is allowed by the total patient’s health condition to reverse the situation without surgery. In the beginning the degree of stricture is diminished while in the second phase mitral valve is completely restored. But even in patient’s sustained operation, homeopathy will quickly normalize their health after surgery and especially create conditions where the disease will never recur again.

MITRAL VALVE FAILURE

The cause of mitral valve failure is also rheumatic fever. The valve narrows hardens and loses its shape. The calcifications generated around, cause mitral valve immobilization and heart loses its ability to eject blood during diastole. Mitral valve insufficiency can also be caused by dilatation of the left ventricle as a cardiomyopathy, hypertensive disease or heart attack. Once the disease installed, patient feels a chronic weakness, fatigue and his ejection fraction is low. On the other hand, patients with mild mitral regurgitation may remain asymptomatic throughout their whole life. Treatment of mitral valve failure is made by vasodilators, digoxin, and surgery. Regarding the surgical treatment mitral valve is replaced by an artificial valve. Another technique is to place a rubber ring around the valve. This is called valvuloplasty. The last method used more in children. But whichever method surgeons choose lurks the greatest danger that of thromboembolism and bleeding where in a second phase will cause endocarditis and death. Statistically one in four patients dies immediately after surgery. As for survivals after surgery their left ventricular function is gradually deteriorating in time. Cardiology books say that surgery is consulted when conventional therapy can not offer anything else. What conventional therapy can not offer could be offered by homeopathy. Calcification and deformation of mitral valve will never occur if patient starts homeopathy immediately after the invasion of rheumatic fever. If patients with mild mitral valve insufficiency start homeopathy the disease will never worse and will have never need of surgery. In case of final stage disease like the high degree of mitral valve failure, with dyspnea, and low heart ejection fraction, and patient decide to be operated, homeopathy will help to minimize postoperative complications, improve notably heart ejection fraction and adjust heart quickly to the new hemodynamic situation.

* AORTIC VALVE STRICTURE

It may be rheumatic or degenerative origin. It is more common in men. Aortic valve is almost immobilized by the deposition of calcium. Diabetes and high cholesterol are significant risk factors for developing the disease. The left heart ventricle is dilated and the efficiency of blood ejected into the aorta is diminished. Breathlessness is the most common symptom. Heart failure and ischemia can coexist. All this happens in the sixth decade of life.

Therapeutically when the aortic valve stricture is mild, hard sports and physical activity advised to be avoided. In more severe cases can be used diuretics and beta blockers drugs. Surgery is indicated in cases of critical stenosis when the strictured surface is less than 0,75 cm2. But after valvuloplasty the probability of relapsed aortic valve stricture is high 10 -20 years later.

When someone starts homeopathy in the birth of the disease, the disease becomes stable and deterioration (namely critical aortic valve stricture) and hence surgery confrontation is prevented. In operated patients homeopathy offers quick postoperative recovery and stabilization to prevent a second aortic valve stricture.

* AORTIC FAILURE

Rheumatic fever is primarily responsible for this disorder that leads to failure. Aortic valve is filtered by fibrous tissue and blood returns to the left ventricle from damage created in the center of the valve. Left ventricle is dilated and hearts function worse. These patients are at high risk of developing heart failure. Treatment accomplished with digoxin, diuretics, nitrates, hydralazine and nifedipine drugs. In patients with very impaired left ventricular function surgical replacement of the aortic valve is recommended. However, the postoperative evolution of patients with aortic regurgitation and high ejection fraction is excellent. But in patients with low ejection fraction, the postoperative course is very poor. Besides what is the most appropriate time for the doctor to advise his patient to be operated, remains unresolved in cardiology.

Homeopathy can help these patients both before and after surgery. During aortic insufficiency, homeopathy will normalize ejection fraction and reduce left ventricular dilatation. In short the disease will stabilize and surgery will be avoided. In patients who have undergone surgery, homeopathy would reduce the postoperative complications and increase life expectancy by strengthening the immune system. In this upward process of the whole entity, heart failure, ejection fraction and valvular insufficiency will improve.

* VASCULAR ATHEROSCLEROSIS

It is the leading cause of death in the civilized world. Plaque formation in blood vessels wall arises by 3 basic biological processes.

1) Multiply muscle cells around the vessel.

2) Formation of connective tissue including collagen, elastic fibers and proteoglycans within the muscle cells that have been proliferated.

3) Accumulation of lipid especially cholesterol esters and free cholesterol in cells and surrounding connective tissue.

These plaques are formed in two different ways. In the first case unbalanced thickening of the vessel wall is created which causes decreased blood flow. In the second case, the symmetric thickening of the vessel wall causes vessel dilatation and thereby vessel diameter narrowing. The classical treatment of these disorders is mostly preventive and is related to diet and lowering cholesterol levels. (Pharmaceuticals use statins drugs which cause much long-term side damage) But as there are people who lose weight with diet and reduce cholesterol levels, there are people who are weak and likely to diet fail to decrease their cholesterol levels. To them statins drugs are recommended.

With homeopathy cholesterol levels decrease, because the whole body is balanced especially in people who fail to fulfill it only with diet. Long, frees vessels by the formation of plaque and reduces the accumulation of cholesterol in them so the blood flows freely. The ayurveda diet also contributed significantly to reducing blood cholesterol.

* MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

The attack is an irreversible necrosis of the myocardium. Nearly all strokes originate from atherosclerosis of coronary blood vessels. Myocardial infarction is distinguished in trans-mural which the necrosis involves the full thickness of myocardial wall and subendocardial (non trans-mural) which is milder and necrosis confined to the inner layer of the infarcted wall. Trans-mural myocardial infarct results from obstruction of a single coronary artery. The subendocardial heart attacks occur in patients with pulmonary hypertension, anemia, aortic valve stenosis, or stroke. In case of severe atherosclerotic narrowing of coronary arteries, myocardium supplied with decreased oxygen and thus created patchy necroses in the first myocardium layer that is endocardium. Another case of myocardial infarction with normal coronary arteries is coronary spasm. Spasm can cause damage to the coronary vessel and ultimately begin to form plaque. Myocardial infarction regardless of etiology is accompanied by intense pain. For this reason, analgesics such as meperidine, pentazosin, and morphine are used. Other medicines are nitrates, beta blockers and calcium antagonists.

The position of homeopathy in myocardial infarction is both preventive that is avoid hearts attack and restoration when heart infarct occurred. Homeopathy decrease blood cholesterol, minimize the creation of atherosclerotic plaque and cause birth collateral circulation when coronal vessels are strictured. Patients who have never taken homeopathy remedies and myocardial infarction resulted, can together with cardiology drugs, take homeopathy remedies. If these patients have suffered of subendocardial infarction, homeopathy can reverse the damage and restore the reasons that caused it, conducting the body into a better state of health, not allowing happening again. Patients who suffered transmural myocardial infarction will improve the residual coronary circulation creating collateral vasculature of blood flow to ensure the supply of oxygen needed by the myocardium. However, trans-mural myocardium lesion can not reversed by homeopathy. But homeopathy may create the suitable conditions not to happen again. In the case of coronary spasm that can come from stress, anxiety or fear, homeopathy removes these causes over time. Mental health created by homeopathy, balances coronary perfusion. Homeopathy does not allow anatomical lesions to be produced. Anyway patient with myocardial infarction should definitely get his cardiology drugs that are designed to reduce the load of blood, pain, and blood pressure. But together with cardiology drugs, homeopathic remedies will induce an overall improvement across the body, but especially in patient’s heart. Homeopathy will cause revascularization preventing necrosis of myocardial cells and increase the survival patient’s time.

* PERICARDITIS

Pericardium is a sac surrounding the heart that seeks to stabilize and prevent excessive movement and changes of heart position. Pericardium also reduces friction between the heart and surrounding organs and creates a barrier against the possible extension of inflammation from the surrounding organs. The pericardial sac filled with fluid and distributed in space around the heart, in order that the reserved volume does not increase too much. Pericarditis is inflammation of the pericardium and is characterized by pain and friction. The most common causes are viral, bacterial, myocardial infarction, and trauma. The treatment of pericarditis is pain relieving usually with corticosteroids. In severe cases of constrictive pericarditis due to increased pressure of the pericardial fluid, surgery is recommended.

Homeopathy offers a complete cure in pericarditis when the cause is a virus or bacterium. The immune system will be strengthening. If pericarditis is caused from other pathology such as myocardial infarction, uremic pericarditis (neglected renal failure) should first be treated the initial disorder.

* PULMONARY HEART DISEASE

It is the combination of hypertrophy and dilatation of the right ventricle due to pulmonary hypertension. Causes of pulmonary hypertension are diseases of the lung parenchyma. Chronic bronchitis and emphysema are the most common causes of pulmonary heart disease. The essential pathology in chronic pulmonary heart disease is the loss of vessels. This causes pulmonary hypertension, which in turn makes the remaining blood vessels hard and rigid. Therapeutic use bronchodilators relieve muscle spasm. The purpose of using them is to reduce the airway obstruction and improve the distribution of inhaled air. The amynofilines found to reduce pulmonary pressure. The methylxanthines improve diaphragmatic function. The vasodilators also reduce pulmonary hypertension. These products should be used when the pathology is advanced and has caused irreversible vascular damage. But if the pathology is at an early stage where the pulmonary vessels are in good condition, then homeopathy can induce therapeutic effect on lung disease, pulmonary pressure and the heart. With homeopathy disease’s deterioration quit and life expectancy increases.

* CARDIOMYOPATHIES

Heart disease of unknown where the same heart muscle is involved. Describe 3 major categories of operational failures.

1) Dilated, called congestive characterized by dilatation of the left ventricle.

2) Hypertrophic characterized by left ventricular hypertrophy.

3) Restrictive characterized by stiffness of left ventricle wall.

In dilated cardiomyopathy the myocardial injury produced by toxic, metabolic and infectious causes. Alcohol, smoking, can produce lesions similar to those of dilated cardiomyopathy. In the myocardium displayed small necrotic areas and perivascular fibrosis. Some myocardial cells are hypertrophic while others are atrophic. The disease is more common in men than in women. The pharmacologic treatment such as vasodilators, diuretics can only help to control the symptoms. Cardiomyopathy patients hope to improve their lives only with transplantation.

Homeopathy does not agree with transplantation as a survival solution for these patients. Besides, even after a successful transplantation, the patient should receive sedative drugs for the rest of his life. Homeopathy treats in the opposite way strenghtening rather than suppressing the immune system. For homeopathy is essential the precocious diagnosis of this disease to pull up the dilatation of the left ventricle and commence the reversal process without myocardial damages and without contractility disorders. For homeopathy the cause of the stretch that could be metabolic, infectious or toxic does not matter. In hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the most characteristic lesion is the diastolic dysfunction characterized by rigidity of the left ventricle during diastole. The majority of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy are asymptomatic. Unfortunately, the first clinical manifestation is sudden death. The most common symptom in those patients is dyspnea. For cardiomyopathy treatment beta blockers, calcium antagonist’s chemical drugs and surgery are used. Also in this case homeopathy could reduce the hypertrophy whether the disease is diagnosed early. In more advanced cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, homeopathy aims to give disease progression over. In these cases we can not expect the reversal of the disease with homeopathic medicine. These patients should receive cardiology drugs as well. In these patients, homeopathy will offer surgery avoiding and lengthening the life of survival. In restrictive cardiomyopathy the left ventricular walls are rigid and impede blood filling. Restrictive cardiomyopathy has a poor prognosis because only 10% of patients alive after 10 years and no treatment is particularly efficient. In homeopathy it is important to begin treatment at the birth of this disease to prolong life expectancy.
